Open Educational Resources (OERs) include various artifacts: articles, books, and other documents, as well as images, video, software apps, widgets, etc. that have been pre-licensed for educators to use and share. Most often, the only requirement is that we acknowledge the author. It doesn’t mean the author or creator has given up their intellectual property rights, but rather have chosen to contribute the content for others to use without charge. Creative Commons is arguably the best known method of pre-licensing content. There are a number of licenses under the Creative Commons system including “Attribution”, “Noncommercial”, “No Derivative Works”, and “Share Alike”.
I believe we should graciously accept the contributions of others and share OERs under the creative commons system. For this reason, you will find most of the images and some video on my blog that is authored by others who have pre-licensed their work under the creative commons system.
If you are the copyright holder of an article, image, video which is shared on this site but for whatever reason, decide this was not your understanding of the Creative Commons license, please let me know and I will remove it. Otherwise, I sincerely appreciate your willingness contribute your creative works and permission for educators to re-use your art as open educational resources.
